Tips from me to you if you feel your not Photogenic or you just Dread photo shoots so it can be an enjoyable experience and get GREAT photos!
1. Find a photographer you love and trust, and be honest and open with them. Your photographer knows what he/she is doing. Trust them to put you in a beautiful location, give you some pointers, and relax!
2. Don't think of the session as a photo shoot. Think of it as a date that happens to have a photographer. Before you meet up with our photographer, go out to breakfast/lunch and relax, don't think about the shoot, but start your date!
3. If you have some shots that are really important to you, let your photographer know. Don't be afraid to email your photographer pictures that you absolutely love the style or feel of, or that you really WANT! We LOVE this... it helps us know what you like and what you are wanting out of your session. Remember that photographers work for you, not the other way around!
4. Bring props that are important to you. Whether they are Books, Pool Cues, Photo Frame, a Save-the-Date, Wine Glasses, the Family Pet, ANYTHING. Your photographer should have props for you to choose form to!
5. Go to your element. Whether that is a pool hall, college campus, neighborhood park, your family's land, downtown, the grocery store, etc. Pick places you love and places you feel at home. If your element is inside your own home, shoots at home are great too!
6. Wear something that makes you feel awesome. Wear that favorite top (dress, pants, etc) that you feel like a million bucks in, and bring along your favorite little black (or blue, or red, or etc) dress. You will be happy you did. The same goes for the man... wear what you are most comfortable in.
You can apply these tips to any type of session, not just couple/engagement session! Most important thing to remember is to be yourself, and look like yourself!
